Cryptocurrency Fraud

Fake exchanges, phishing attacks, wallet drainers, rug pulls, and fraudulent token offerings.

Recognition

Warning signs

These are the patterns we see most often in accepted cases. Recognising one is not proof — but it is a reason to stop and check before sending anything further.

  • Requests to send crypto in order to "unlock" or "release" existing funds
  • Unsolicited contact from someone offering to recover a previous loss
  • Endorsements attributed to public figures that cannot be verified
  • Withdrawal fees that escalate each time you try to cash out
  • Platforms that appeared recently and have no verifiable operating history
Our approach

How we work a crypto case

The route depends on where the money is now. This is the sequence we work through.

Step 01

Map the wallets

On-chain analysis to cluster addresses and establish where funds were consolidated.
Step 02

Identify the cash-out point

Locate the exchanges where the assets were converted, and issue cooperation requests to them.
Step 03

Freeze before it moves

Where funds have not yet left the chain, the window for freezing is narrow and we prioritise accordingly.

What happens next

The same six stages, whichever category you are in

The forensic work differs by fraud type. The process you experience does not.

  1. Intake & Assessment

We review your documentation, confirm the fraud typology, and estimate whether the funds are still traceable. You receive a written assessment, not a sales call.

  2. Forensic Trace

We follow the money. Bank-to-bank transfers, payment processor records, and where applicable on-chain analysis of cryptocurrency movements.

  3. Recovery Strategy

Based on the trace, we select the route most likely to succeed: institution-led recall, negotiated return, civil claim, or a combination. You approve the strategy before we proceed.

  4. Execution

Freezing requests, formal demands, engagement of local counsel, and where necessary legal proceedings. You receive progress updates on a fixed schedule throughout.

  5. Recovery & Return

Recovered funds are returned through secure, documented channels. You receive a full accounting of what was recovered and what was not.

  6. Protection & Follow-up

We advise on account security, credit monitoring, and the specific controls that would have stopped the original fraud.
